Billionaire McCain Displays Contempt for Low-Wage Nannies

In the February 14, 2008 Senate Hearing, Margaret McCain, wife of the frozen-French-fry billionaire, made the following insulting unsupported comments about nannies (paid "in-house caregivers"), many of whom are immigrants from racial minorities. No Senator is recorded as questioning her on this.

"Many families are paying $300 or $350 a week for in-house caregivers who are not doing the job well, with caregivers who are not well-trained, do not speak the language well and are not stimulating the children. These children would be far better off in high quality early child development centres."
