The Senate Standing Committee on Science, Social Affairs and Technology has heard from the daycare lobby at length but not from parents representing parents.

Kids First requested to present to the Committee in June 2007 and received no response. We re-submitted our request in March 2008 upon learning that Dr. Fraser ("17% of parents are godawful") Mustard and Margaret ("I am a disciple of Dr. Mustard") McCain had recently presented at great length, but we have been told that the Committee is no longer hearing witnesses.

The Committee is reviewing and reporting on the OECD's claim that Canada spends little on child care and early learning. This claim is oft-cited but was thoroughly debunked—see the transcript for the June 7, 2007 hearing.
